Solar Challenge Day 6: Finish Line!

Friday, October 30th. Very early in the morning around 4.30 a.m. a road train forced us to move the Moho. The team was waking up one after the other and got ready for the final day.

Right before the start, the team could not be helped to sit on one of the wagons of the impressive road train approximately three to four meters above the ground. The small, tattooed and bearded driver happily sat on his seat and watched the scene.

And then at 8 a.m. sharp the cars started moving towards Port Augusta. Passing impressive landscapes with purple salt lakes accompanied our way to Adelaide. Around 2.30 p.m. Jenny and its team walking besides the car arrived at the finish line, were loads of people and other team members welcomed the SolarWorldNo.1. When the car opened, Jenny jumped out and everyone started dancing and screaming: We did it! 3.000 kilometres across the country! But the best was still to come: the traditional jump into the fountain in the middle of Victoria Square. With sparkling wine spread all around the party started.

The goal – to be among the top 10 was certainly reached: SolarWorldNo.1 finally came 9th although the past days went incredibly well. The sister team of Bochum University who created the BO Cruiser, were given this year’s design award – the same award SolarWorldNo.1 were awarded with in the last race two years ago.
